Once upon a time, there was a country, a beautiful country, with poor, but loving people. They had a house, their land and their animals: cows, horses, pigs, cats and dogs.
Even the animals that were used for work, all of them were happy: they had their own little home and they weren’t starving. But this country, named Romania, changed.
And the popular saying, “From my own slice of bread I’ve raised a person and a dog,’’ was not valid anymore.
Suddenly, Romanians became dog killers (and not only this, also horse killers, cat killers and so on). And money became more important than life.
The politicians made laws in order to permit them to take a life, even it was an animal life, in the name of the law. The administration ignored the problem of stray dogs till they become too many. And then a massacre began. A national massacre of the dogs.
The association “Prietenii Nostri” was officially founded in 2005 to give an answer to the tragic emergency that affects stray dogs in Romania: a strayness completely out of control and hundreds of thousands of dogs exterminated every year by the authorities in a climate of total indifference.
